Healthy Weight

The number of overweight and obese South Australians has risen alarmingly in recent times, with more than half the adult population now falling into this category.

Even more worrying is that one in every four children is today in the unhealthy weight range, which places them at increased risk of health, emotional and social problems.

The implications of these trends are serious. Not just for the lives of the individuals, but also for the health system and the state’s economy.

The Eat Well Be Active Strategy is a comprehensive plan of action to foster healthy weight among South Australians over the next five years.
